We all love skincare and taking better care of ourselves because good skincare makes your makeup look better and is also great for just overall skin health. Your at-home routine is just as important as having a solid treatment plan with your esthetician, if you need help finding an esthetician, I offer virtual consults where I give you some great recommendations in your city. You can book here. I’ll go into more detail on what you get in my consults in another blog post. While your online shopping cart can’t replace the tools and quality available in a spa setting, nor can it replicate the results, you can get by seeing a licensed skincare professional with years of knowledge and training like an esthetician, it can at least help and enhance your experience. Let’s dive into the benefits of some must-have skincare tools: cold rollers, jade face masks, mini spatulas, aromatherapy ice rollers, gua shas, and cold facial masks.

Cold Rollers: Sooth Skin and Treat Breakouts
Think of cold rollers like mini handheld rolling pins, but for your face, and not as awkward to hold, since you just need one hand. These hand-held devices are incredible for reducing puffiness and calming inflammation, especially great for acne skin. Here’s how they work: by cooling the skin, they constrict blood vessels, reducing inflammation and giving your skin a refreshed (yet sometimes a little pink in color look) Please use sparingly if you have very sensitive skin, if it doesn’t feel good, don’t keep doing it. This is excellent for those of you who suffer from acne, rosacea, and eczema I love this option from Amazon, you can pop it right into your freezer and use it in the morning or at night.
Jade Face Masks: Smoosh and Relax You
While these masks don’t offer any chemical or scientific benefit to the skin, if you pop them in the freezer, the cold beads feel spectacular on your skin. The added pressure of the mask is also lovely for those of you who have a cat-like preference for tight small spaces, as they provide the slightest amount of weight, like a weighted blanket mask for your face. I like this option from Amazon.
Mini Spatulas: Be Hygienic and Save On Skincare
If you get grossed out from cross-contamination and skincare that comes in a jar instead of a tube, these spatulas are for you. While it’s the same concept as using a cotton swab, since these disposable spatulas are made of plastic, they won’t absorb any product and therefore you waste less. There’s no need to stick your fingers into jars, and you can dispense a very precise amount of product with ease. If you’re concerned about contributing to disposable waste, you can reuse the spatulas for around 1-2 weeks and wash them with soap and water or disinfect them with alcohol in a spray bottle to prolong use. This option from Amazon gives you a ton of spatulas for not a very steep price.
Aromatherapy Ice Rollers: Aesthetic and Calming Sensory Experience
What’s the difference between these ice rollers and small ice cubes with molds you can get from The Dollar Tree? It’s bigger and easier to handle, easier to add in your choice of aloe vera or aesthetic-looking flowers. While I don’t recommend adding in essential oils to your skincare ever, to avoid risk of an infection or allergic reaction, adding in pretty flowers you know don’t cause any irritation to you could potentially be pretty harmless. The customization options with these rollers are endless, I like to freeze with half aloe vera plant gel and water. Buy it here
Gua Shas: Drain What n Your Skin No Longer Serves You
While I want to see more empirical evidence around the many benefits of gua sha for toning and sculpting the face long-term before jumping on the bandwagon of believers, it is excellent for lymphatic drainage for temporary relief. Buy yours here
Cold Facial Masks: Instant Hydration and Cooling Relief
These are fantastic for scaring the delivery man, and also providing intense cooling to irritated skin. Although I disagree with other claims that they provide any sort of hydration benefit to the skin, using them to cool down hot and irritated skin is a pretty solid recommendation. Buy yours here.
